2009 PROGRAMS

February 10 – February 22 (12 days)

SCH (Soon Chun Hyang) University

These 40 students are traveling to Portland through the Soon Chun Hyang University (a Sister School of
PSU) English and American Culture Winter Program offered at Portland State University.
SCH is located south of Seoul. These students are aged 18-23 and have a good amount of experience with
the English language.

Schedule:
-Arrive in Portland February 1
-Staying in Mark Spencer Hotel until February 10 (AM)
-Homestay February 10th – February 22nd
-February 22nd Airport drop off and departure
Grocery stipend :
AEC will offer $150.00 per student to each host family.
Activities:
-PSU morning classes/ Afternoon educational activities and trips
-Bus ride home at 5PM every day
-Evenings/Weekends will be spent with the host family
-Farewell dinner with host families at PSU February 20th (PM).

High School students from Ulsan, Korea:

High school students (15 to 17 years old) are coming from Portland’s sistere city in Korea, Ulsan city, Hyundai Chungun High School. Chungun H.S. is one the most academically challenging and prestigious high schools in Korea. Many graduates of the high school enroll in the best universities in Korea, and go on to such distinguished positions as top executives, government workers and politicians of Korea. Those students who participate in our program were also specially selected through a strict competition process and received full scholarships to participate in this program.

Showa University Medical School

Medical school students from Japan

20 college freshmen (18 to 20 years old) from Showa University Medical School will be participating in summer medical facility and hospital visits, as well as the American culture and English language program.

AUGUST – SEPTEMBER (21 days)

RYUKA/UMDS (University of Marketing and Distribution Science)

College students from Kobe, Japan

College freshmen, Business and other Liberal Arts major students will participate in this PSU program.
