2011 Homestay Programs Overview



JULY 5 – JULY 19  (14 Days)

Anyang University (http://www.anyang.ac.kr/eng/)

15 Liberal Arts Majors (19-24) came from this private university south of Seoul, Korea to study English and American Culture. These students received partial scholarships to attend this program.


JULY 5 – JULY 24  (19 Days)

University of Ulsan (http://www.ulsan.ac.kr/)

15 Art and Design majors (19 to 26 years old) came from Ulsan, Korea. Ulsan is a sister city of Portland. Every year, delegations from Ulsan, Korea participates in the Portland Rose Festival parade. These students will participate in a specially designed 4 weeks long Fine Art and Design summer course at Portland State University. University of Ulsan has been sending students to PSU for past 9 years.


JULY 5 – JULY 24  (19 Days)

Kyungpook National University (http://www2.knu.ac.kr/)

10 Fine Art major students participated in special Fine Art/Design summer courses at Portland State University. Kyungpook National University (KNU) is one the most competitive and prestigious university in South Korea. 10 selected students will participate in a specially designed 4 weeks long (Homestay 3 weeks) Fine Art and Design summer course at PSU. KNU’s Art major students will bring delightful cultural exchange experience to your family this summer.


JULY 19 – AUGUST 9  (21 Days)

Hyundai Chungun High School (http://hcu.hs.kr/)

High School students from Ulsan, Korea:

24 students (15 to 17 years old) participated in our program from Hyundai Chungun High School.  Chungun H.S. is one the most academically challenging and prestigious high schools in Korea. Many graduates of the high school enroll in the best universities in Korea, and go on to such distinguished positions as top executives, government workers and politicians of Korea. Those students who participate in our program were also specially selected through a strict competition process and received full scholarships to participate in this program.


JULY 25 – AUGUST 7  (14 Days)

Showa University Medical School (http://www.showa-u.ac.jp/en/index.html)

College freshmen (18 to 20 years old) from Showa University Medical School participated in summer medical facility and hospital visits, as well as the American culture and English language program.
